Rep. Jones Sponsors Resolution Recognizing the Month of September as Children & Youth Month

ATLANTA – State Representative Sheila Jones (D-Atlanta) recently sponsored House Resolution 556 recognizing the month of September as Children & Youth Month in Georgia. HR 556 was adopted by the Georgia House of Representatives on Thursday, March 9, 2017.

“It is my honor and privilege to celebrate and recognize Georgia’s youngest population through this resolution,” said Rep. Jones. “Children are our states most valuable asset, and it is essential that the legislature acknowledges the important role we play in these children’s lives. A child’s upbringing can have a profound impact on the rest of their life, and it is therefore imperative that we continue to pass beneficial social policies that will help the children of today grow to become the leaders of tomorrow.”

HR 556 celebrates the achievements and capabilities of Georgia’s youth by recognizing September as Children & Youth month in Georgia. Georgia is home to more than 2.5 million children under 18-years-old, and HR 556 encourages all citizens to acknowledge and honor Georgia’s children.
