ATLANTA – State Representative Jordan Ridley (R-Woodstock) was selected by Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve on the House Study Committee on Safety and Consumer Protection in the Tree Care Industry.
“Georgia’s tree care industry has experienced record numbers of fatalities and injuries over the years,” said Rep. Ridley. “To ensure our economy continues to thrive and Georgia remains the number one state for business, we must reform the current licensing and registration requirements for tree care providers. Enhancing safety and security is paramount to protecting both workers and consumers in this high-risk field. I am eager to thoroughly examine this aspect of the industry and look forward to presenting our findings as proposed legislation in the 2025 legislative session.”
Created pursuant to House Resolution 473, the House Study Committee the Safety and Consumer Protection in the Tree Care Industry will investigate and develop potential solutions to prevent further injuries and fatalities in the tree care industry and identify key areas for improvement and implement necessary reforms to enhance the safety and security of Georgia’s tree trimmers.
Speaker Burns also appointed the following study committee members: State Representatives Victor Anderson (R-Cornelia), Marvin Lim (D-Norcross), David Huddleston (R-Roopville) and Bill Yearta (R-Sylvester).

He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves as the Secretary of the Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications Committee.
