ATLANTA – State Representative Josh McLaurin (D-Sandy Springs) was sworn into office as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives on Monday, January 14, 2019, marking his first day of the 2019-2020 legislative term. Monday was the first day of the first term of the 155th legislative session of the Georgia General Assembly.
In addition to being officially sworn in, the Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named Rep. McLaurin to the Budget & Fiscal Affairs Oversight, Judiciary Non-Civil and Special Rules committees.
“I’m honored to serve on these three committees, which do important work to uphold the rule of law in Georgia,” said Rep. McLaurin. “Our mandate is to pass laws reflecting Georgians’ values and to ensure we use taxpayer funds responsibly in carrying out those laws.”
The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative Josh McLaurin represents the citizens of District 51, which includes portions of Fulton County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2018 and currently serves on the Budget & Fiscal Affairs Oversight, Judiciary Non-Civil and Special Rules committees.
