ATLANTA – State Representative Karla Drenner (D-Avondale Estates) has been chosen as one of five winners of the Next Generation of Government Training (NextGen) Speaker Contest. Rep. Drenner will now travel to Washington, D.C. in July to deliver her speech at the NextGen Summit.
“I am honored to be selected as one of the speakers for this year’s NextGen Summit,” said Rep. Drenner. “I am looking forward to traveling to D.C. this summer and sharing my story with other leaders as well as hearing stories from various government leaders from around the country. Additionally, I am excited about the opportunity to attend the sessions and workshops at the summit and learn from my peers.”
As a winner of this contest, Rep. Drenner will have the opportunity to share her story, “Paint by Numbers?,” in front of over 500 government leaders and share the stage with Obama appointees, current Mayors, and CEOs. She will speak at the Next Generation of Government Training Summit on July 25th-26th in Washington, D.C.
Rep. Drenner was chosen as a winner of the NextGen Speaker Contest by the speaker selection committee’s scores and peer votes.
Rep. Drenner’s story is also a part of TED Talks. TED Talks began as a simple attempt to share what happens at TED with the world. As of November 2012, TED Talks have been viewed more than one billion times.
TED is a nonprofit organization that began as a conference that brings together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, and Design.
The Next Generation of Government Training Summit began in 2010 and has enhanced the working and personal lives of 1,000+ Generation X and Y government employees. The sessions and workshops presented during the two day summit will include information focused on educating, inspiring and training emerging government leaders to further enhance their day-to-day career and the betterment of government overall.
