ATLANTA – State Representative Katie Dempsey (R-Rome), chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Human Resources, was recently appointed by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve on the Committee on Assignments.
“I am truly honored to be appointed by Speaker Burns to serve on the House Committee on Assignments,” said Chairman Dempsey. “I fully recognize the immense responsibility that comes with being part of this committee and am dedicated to collaborating with my fellow members with integrity, diligence and focus. Our goal will be to make thoughtful, purposeful decisions that will impact the committee process for the next two years. I look forward to the upcoming 2025 legislative session and working together to create meaningful legislation that serves the best interests of all Georgians.”
The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by Speaker Burns, is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.
Representative Katie Dempsey represents the citizens of District 13, which includes portions of Floyd County. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2006 and currently serves as Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Human Resources. She also serves on the Special Committee on Healthcare and the Economic Development & Tourism, Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications, Higher Education, Public Health, Rules and Transportation committees.
