Rep. Kim Schofield Hosts Uplifting Our Girls’ Inaugural “Uplift and Flow” Workshop

ATLANTA – State Representative Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta) recently hosted the Uplifting Our Girls’ inaugural “Uplift and Flow” workshop, an event designed for girls ages nine to 17 and the parents, guardians, grandparents, dads and mentors who support them.

“This event was about more than bras or menstrual products; it was about equipping our girls with the knowledge, confidence and self-worth to navigate their journey into womanhood,” said Rep. Schofield, founder of Uplifting Our Girls. “We also wanted to empower parents, guardians, grandparents and especially, dads raising daughters, who may find these conversations difficult, to feel confident leading them.”

Attendees received professional bra fitting education, feminine hygiene and menstrual health literacy, as well as hands-on confidence kits filled with products, affirmations and resources to carry the lessons home.

Workshops included discussions regarding breast development, menstrual cycles and hygiene. Parents and guardians participated alongside the girls, gaining the tools and language to normalize these conversations at home.

Rep. Schofield reports that the success of “Uplift & Flow” marks a powerful step toward breaking cultural silences and empowering families to take an active role in their daughters’ health and well-being, and Rep. Schofield’s Uplifting Our Girls organization is committed to expanding this work, ensuring that every girl — regardless of background — has access to the education, resources and encouragement she deserves.
