ATLANTA – State Representative Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta) recently participated as a guest judge in the 2024 Flavor of Georgia Event on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the Classic Center in Athens, Georgia.
“The Flavor of Georgia Food Product Contest not only allowed me to engage with small business owners and food entrepreneurs but highlighted the use of Georgia Grown ingredients and products,” said Rep. Schofield. “The contestants introduced products that represent Georgia’s food industry and trends, support agribusiness and contribute to our food economy.”
The Flavor of Georgia, a University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES) signature event, has helped launch small, startup food companies while garnering recognition in new markets for established brands since 2007. The event is organized by the Department of Food Science and Technology. AGCO is the presenting sponsor of the contest, as well as the Georgia Department of Agriculture and Georgia Grown, the CAES Alumni Association, Farm Credit Associations of Georgia and Corteva Agriscience.
New Creation Soda Works won the grand prize at the 2024 Flavor of Georgia food contest for their product, PECHES Georgia Peach Soda. This family-owned company, based in Bishop, Georgia, started selling their soda syrups at a local farmer’s market in 2015.
