Rep. Kim Schofield to Host Healing Arts Atlanta Event at High Museum of Art

ATLANTA – State Representative Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta) will host the Healing Arts Atlanta event on Monday, October 7, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta.

“I am excited to work with Marcel Forster, co-director of Performance Hypothesis,” said Rep. Schofield. “Evidence-based arts intervention can be incorporated in healthcare to address disparities, potentially closing gaps across Georgia and improving the quality of lives for many. This is an awesome, innovative opportunity for Georgia to lead in this space by adding another tool to our Healthcare ecosystem.”

The event will include an exchange between healthcare leaders, policymakers, researchers and Black, Indigenous and People of Color artists to discuss data showing how the arts can support positive health outcomes in Georgia. It will examine Healing Arts as a potential intervention to address health gaps by promoting emotional well-being and expanding health access across rural, urban and suburban communities. Additionally, the integration of arts-based interventions into clinical settings will be explored as a means to enhance wellness for patients, staff and the community. The event will also consider opportunities to address current and future healthcare workforce shortages.

Rep. Schofield will be joined by several award-winning artists, researchers and national policymakers at the event.

Doors to the event open at 10 a.m. After the event, there will be networking opportunities from 12 – 1 p.m. The event is free, and seats are limited. Please click here to register.
