ATLANTA – State Representative Tom Kirby (R-Loganville) was recently appointed by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) to serve on the House Study Committee on Workforce Shortage and Crisis in Home & Community Based Settings.
“I’m thrilled to announce my appointment to this critical study committee, and I’d like to extend my sincerest thanks to Speaker Ralston for choosing me to serve in this capacity,” said Rep. Kirby. “I’ve worked in human resources for over 20 years, and I have extensive experience in improving work environments in order for companies to attract exceptional employees. Georgians with disabilities deserve the best care, and I hope to leverage my professional experience as a member of this study committee to help alleviate the caretaker workforce shortage.”
This five-member study committee was established by House Resolution 1257 and will study the conditions, needs, issues and problems related to the shortage of qualified, skilled workers in home and community based settings for Georgians with physical, intellectual and developmental disabilities.
