Rep. Lee Hawkins Named Vice Chairman of House Health & Human Services Committee

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Lee Hawkins (R-Gainesville) as the Vice Chairman of the House Health & Human Services Committee. Rep. Hawkins currently serves as a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Health, and on the Insurance and Regulated Industries committees.

“I would like to thank Speaker Ralston and the members of the Committee on Assignments for allowing me to serve in this position,” said Rep. Hawkins. “I look forward to working with Chairman Cooper and the other members of the committee to ensure the best quality of life for all Georgians.”

The House Health & Human Services Committee, chaired by Rep. Sharon Cooper (R-Marietta), is responsible for legislation that affects the conditions of safety regulations and social services for the citizens of Georgia.

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative Lee Hawkins represents the citizens of District 27, which includes portions of Hall and White counties. He was elected into the State Senate in 2006 and into the House of Representatives in 2012, and currently serves as the Vice Chairman on the Health & Human Services Committee. He also serves on the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and the Insurance and Regulated Industries committees.
