ATLANTA – Yesterday, House Bill 428, sponsored by State Representative Lehman Franklin (R-Statesboro) and a legislative priority for House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington), passed the House with unanimous support. Rep. Franklin commended the House for their efforts in moving the bill forward and looks forward to advancing the bill in the Senate.
“I am incredibly proud to see House Bill 428 pass the House with unanimous support,” said Rep. Franklin. “As my wife and I prepare to welcome our first daughter into the world, I am deeply grateful for IVF and the profound impact it has had on our family. Codifying protections for families facing infertility is vital to ensuring that every family has access to the same opportunities to grow their families. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to Speaker Burns for his support and leadership in making this opportunity possible. It’s an honor to sponsor this important legislation, and I look forward to advancing it to the governor’s desk.”
HB 428 would codify protections for IVF, which would ensure that Georgians struggling with infertility would always have access to the treatment.
HB 428 now awaits consideration in the Georgia State Senate.
