ATLANTA – State Representative Lydia Glaize (D-Fairburn) recently hosted a roundtable discussion for women-owned minority businesses at the State Capitol on Monday, June 3, 2024. The primary objective of the meeting was to support women-owned minority businesses in their endeavors to become state vendors or contractors.
“I was proud to host this important roundtable discussion to offer tools and support to women-owned minority businesses as they work to become state vendors, contractors and to secure RFPs,” said Rep. Glaize. “It is inspiring to see the number of thriving businesses owned by women and minorities in our communities. In hosting and attending events that highlight women and minority voices, we can encourage the next generation of entrepreneurs to pursue business ownership and, in turn, strengthen their communities’ workforces.”
Key speakers at the event included Julian Bailey, who represented the Department of Administrative Services as a Small Business and Supplier Diversity Manager. All guest speakers were appointed by the Governor’s Office, which sought to ensure expertise and alignment with state initiatives. Attendees hailed from various organizations, including the National Association of Black Women in Construction.
Representative Lydia Glaize represents the citizens of District 67, which includes portions of Coweta and Fulton counties. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves on the Education, Higher Education and Information and Audits committees.
