Rep. Mack Jackson Appointed by Gov. Kemp to Joint Fiscal Affairs Subcommittee

ATLANTA – State Representative Mack Jackson (D-Sandersville) recently was appointed by Governor Brian Kemp to the Joint Fiscal Affairs Subcommittee on Feb. 19, 2021. This subcommittee is responsible for approving changes in agency funding after the Georgia General Assembly has adjourned for the year. The subcommittee also advises the governor on budget changes.

“I am honored Governor Kemp appointed me to the Joint Fiscal Affairs Subcommittee,” said Rep. Jackson.  “The pandemic has taken its toll on our job market, and consequently, our state revenues. However, we have received favorable economic projections recently. As our state revenue recovers over the next two years, I will continue work with the other Fiscal Affairs Subcommittee members and state agencies to find the best way to make the most of our state resources and restore funding to critical state operations.”

The Joint Fiscal Affairs Subcommittee is comprised of 10 state representatives and 10 senators.  Five representatives and five senators are appointed by the governor. Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) appoints the remaining five representatives and Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan appoints the other five senators. Speaker Ralston and Lt. Gov. Duncan alternate as chairman of the subcommittee each year.

Rep. Jackson will serve a two-year term concurrent with his 2021-2022 term as a member of the Georgia General Assembly.

Representative Mack Jackson represents the citizens of District 128, which includes Glascock, Hancock, Warren and Washington counties and portions of Jefferson, Johnson and McDuffie counties. He was elected in 2008 and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the State Planning & Community Affairs Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Economic Development and the Legislative & Congressional Reapportionment, Public Safety & Homeland Security, Rules and Small Business Development committees.
