ATLANTA – State Representative Mack Jackson (D-Sandersville) recently presented a new scholarship designated to training Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) students to become commercial truck drivers.
“Our farmers and the agriculture community do an incredible job in our state, but their goods cannot get to the market without our truckers,” said Rep. Jackson. “As a legislator who represents rural Georgia, I am committed to advocating for resources and economic development initiatives that benefit these communities.”
The 2021 Georgia Rural Caucus Truck Driving Scholarship was awarded to four OFTC students enrolled in the college’s commercial truck driving (CTD) program. The scholarship was created through OFTC Foundation North, Inc.
The Georgia Rural Caucus works with OFTC to create scholarships for students majoring in agricultural studies. During the 2021 legislative session, Rep. Jackson advocated for the college foundation to expand these scholarship opportunities for CTD students.
