Rep. Mandi Ballinger Named Chairman of House Juvenile Justice Committee

ATLANTA – The Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named State Representative Mandi Ballinger (R-Canton) as the Chairman of the House Juvenile Justice Committee.  Rep. Ballinger will also serve as the Secretary of the Budget & Fiscal Affairs Oversight Committee and as a member on Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety and the Information & Audits, Judiciary Non-Civil and Rules committees.

“I am honored that Speaker Ralston and the Committee on Assignments have entrusted me with the leadership of our Juvenile Justice Committee,” said Rep. Ballinger.  “I look forward to partnering with allied agencies and organizations to improve the lives of children across the state.”

The House Juvenile Justice Committee, formerly known as Children and Youth, is the judiciary committee over juvenile related issues. The committee was recreated during the 2013 legislative session and works to protect and enhance the lives of Georgia’s children.

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative Mandi L. Ballinger represents the citizens of District 23, which includes portions of Cherokee County. She was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2012, and currently serves as the Chairman of the Juvenile Justice Committee and the Secretary of the Budget & Fiscal Affairs Oversight Committee. She also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety and the Information & Audits, Judiciary Non-Civil and Rules committees.
