Rep. Mandi Ballinger Named Vice Chairman of the House Rules Committee

ATLANTA – State Representative Mandi Ballinger (R-Canton), chair of the House Juvenile Justice Committee, was recently appointed by Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) to serve as the vice chairman of the House Rules Committee for the remainder of the 2021-2022 legislative term.

“I am grateful to Speaker Ralston for allowing me to serve in this capacity,” said Rep. Ballinger. “As a gatekeeper to the House floor, the House Rules Committee is one of the most meaningful committees I have had the chance to serve on. I am thrilled to step into this new role and look forward to determining which bills should have a chance to cross the finish line this session.”

The House Rules Committee determines which bills should be scheduled for a vote on the House floor. It also oversees the approval of guests who are invited and recognized in the House Chamber.

Representative Mandi L. Ballinger represents the citizens of District 23, which includes portions of Cherokee County. She was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2012 and currently serves as Chairman of the Juvenile Justice Committee and Vice Chairman of the Rules Committee and the Special Committee on Access to the Civil Justice System. She also serves as Secretary of the Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight Committee and is a member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety and the Information and Audits, Judiciary Non-Civil, Legislative & Congressional Reapportionment and Transportation committees.
