ATLANTA – State Representative Mandisha Thomas (D-Atlanta) was recently appointed to serve on the Fulton County Citizens Commission on the Environment (FCCCE) on August 4, 2021. Rep. Thomas was nominated by Fulton County Commissioner Khadijah Abdur-Rahman, and her term will expire December 31, 2022.
“I am honored to have been chosen to serve with other Fulton County residents who care about protecting the environment,” said Rep. Thomas. “Like many urban cities in Georgia, Fulton County residents have long been overlooked and under-protected from all types of pollution, but our county leaders are working hard to change that. All Georgians deserve to live in clean, healthy communities, and I look forward to examining ways that the county can better preserve and protect its local environment.”
The FCCCE is a citizen environmental advisory group that investigates environmental concerns and makes recommendations to the Fulton County Board of Commissioners on environmental policies. This commission also works to increase public awareness, understanding and involvement concerning environmental issues. To engage the Fulton County community, the commission presents annual awards to individuals, organizations and companies that have excelled at improving the environment within Fulton County.
