ATLANTA – State Representative Mandisha A. Thomas (D-South Fulton) will serve as a judge for the Frank Ski Kids Foundation’s 2023 Planet Green Science Trip competition at the Georgia Aquarium on Tuesday, April 18.
“I am honored and excited to help select the brightest students to participate in this year’s science trip,” said Rep. Thomas. “It is important that Georgia children understand the chemistry and physics behind our environment and the impact that the natural environment has on the health, wellness and longevity of our lives and other species. This year’s trip will provide a unique opportunity for students to learn firsthand how environmental changes disproportionately affect disadvantaged and/or developing communities outside of America.”
This summer, the Frank Ski Kids Foundation will select eight Georgia students and two students from Washington, D.C. to participate in an all-expense paid environmental science trip to study the effects of climate change in the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador. The selected students will travel to South America from June 10 – 17, 2023.
The Frank Ski Kids Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit dedicated to exposing kids to their future through science, technology, athletics and the arts. Since 2002, the Planet Green Science trips have exposed high achieving students to study abroad experiences centered on global warming, climate change and sustainability.
The following Atlanta area students have been selected as finalists in the competition: J’Von Easterling, Andrea James, Alicia Kitchens, Peyton Askew, Miles Wooden, Parkes Long, Madelyn Fowler, Jada Garcia, Katelyn Wrenn, Katherine Trimaldi, Chasity Rolland, Caitlin Alexander, Isabella Waller, Gavin Messer and Savannah Giddens.
