ATLANTA – State Representative Mandisha Thomas (D-Atlanta) welcomed Pastor Lawrence A. Reeves, Jr., founder and senior pastor of Trinity Fellowship Church in Atlanta, as he served as the “Chaplain of the Day” for the Georgia House of Representatives on Thursday, February 11, 2021.
“Pastor Reeves exemplifies a true man of God by being about the business of the people,” said Rep. Thomas. “He and his late wife, Beanie Reeves, worked tirelessly to serve the least of these in their community. Pastor Reeves is doing just what the Lord instructed him to do in Luke 19:13, which is to ‘do business in the market place until I return.’ Pastor Reeves and his wife started the first print shop in South Fulton, where they employed and empowered the community to live fruitful and prosperous lives.”
As Chaplain of the Day, Pastor Reeves gave a brief sermon and led the House in prayer and the pledge of allegiance before the House took up legislative business on Legislative Day 16 of the 2021 session.
In 2004, Pastor Reeves founded Trinity Fellowship Church in Atlanta, Georgia. He is committed to outreach and has served and spearheaded programs and activities, such as American Missionary Foundation, Cascade Collaborative New Careers Program, Rally in the Park Outreach Ministry for the homeless community, among others.
Pastor Reeves received an undergraduate degree from North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro and a graduate degree from Atlanta University, which is now Clark Atlanta University. He also received a certificate in theology from ITC Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia.
Pastor Reeves and his late wife, Beanie, were married for more than 40 years. They have three sons, Lawrence III, Corey and James and a daughter, Kia, as well as a son-in-law, daughter-in-law and seven grandchildren.
