Rep. Mark Hamilton Receives Perfect Voting Record Score from NFIB

ATLANTA — State Representative Mark Hamilton (R-Cumming) was recently recognized by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) for earning a 100 percent score for his support of small businesses. This score serves as an evaluation of his voting record on key issues during the 2013-2014 legislative term. In addition to receiving a perfect voting record score, Rep. Hamilton was the recipient of the NFIB’s 2013 Small Business Guardian Award, its top award for state legislators who support the interests of small businesses.

“It has been a pleasure working with the NFIB throughout this legislative term, and I appreciate their acknowledgement and support for my pro-business legislation,” said Rep. Hamilton. “We worked diligently over the last two years to form policies to promote and protect the rights of our state’s small businesses. These businesses are crucial to a flourishing, free market economy, and I will continue to be an advocate for small business owners and citizens at the State Capitol.”

Each year the NFIB tracks significant legislative issues affecting small businesses to tabulate a score for each Georgia legislator based on his or her floor votes on those key issues. The NFIB voting record provides an overall evaluation of law makers’ support for small businesses in Georgia by applying a simple score from zero to 100 percent.

Two bills, authored by Rep. Hamilton, were used by the NFIB to score legislators for this term. House Bills 714 and 154 are both reform policies aimed at saving businesses money. Both bills were subsequently signed into law by Governor Deal.

Founded in 1943, the NFIB is a nonpartisan, nonprofit association with a membership consisting of 350,000 small and independent business owners across the nation. According to NFIB, it is America’s leading small-business advocate.
