Rep. Martin Momtahan Appointed to House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Election Procedures

ATLANTA – State Representative Martin Momtahan (R-Dallas) was recently appointed by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve on the House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Election Procedures.

“I am grateful to Speaker Burns for naming me to serve in this capacity to help ensure our election systems are fair and secure,” said Rep. Momtahan. “It is especially vital that we study and improve our election systems as we head into an election cycle. I look forward to presenting our findings and building a fair, accurate and transparent system for all Georgia voters.”

The Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Election Procedures will study and evaluate Georgia’s current laws, policies and procedures utilized in administering Georgia elections, as well as the statewide and local elected officials and boards that oversee the administration of Georgia’s elections. The committee will compile a report of specific findings or legislative recommendations that will ensure Georgia has a secure and effective electoral system ahead of next November’s elections.

Speaker Burns also appointed the following study committee members: State Representatives Tim Fleming (R-Covington) Victor Anderson (R-Cornelia), Trey Kelley (R-Cedartown), Rob Leverett (R-Elberton), Speaker Pro Tempore Jan Jones (R-Milton) and Saira Draper (D-Atlanta).

Representative Martin Momtahan represents the citizens of District 17, which includes a portion of Paulding County. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2018 and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Interstate Cooperation Committee and as Secretary of the Special Rules Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Creative Arts & Entertainment, Judiciary, Governmental Affairs and Motor Vehicles committees.
