ATLANTA – State Representative Matt Reeves (R-Duluth) today applauds Governor Kemp for signing House Bill 579 into law. Rep. Reeves sponsored this legislation to overhaul Georgia’s professional licensing practices and joined Gov. Kemp at the State Capitol today as the bill was signed into law.

“I was proud to stand with Gov. Kemp as he signed House Bill 579 into law today to cut government red tape and create greater efficiency in our state’s professional licensing process,” said Rep. Reeves. “This bill will have a profound impact on the hundreds of thousands of Georgians working in fields like nursing, cosmetology, plumbing, occupational and physical therapy and many more by empowering them to practice their trade in this state. By making it easier for hard-working Georgians to obtain or renew their professional licenses, we will fuel our state’s workforce and ease regulatory burdens on our citizens.”
HB 579 would allow compliant license applications to be processed more quickly and would free up time for professional licensing boards to respond to misconduct by bad licensees and evaluate statewide workforce needs.
