Rep. Matthew Wilson Sworn in, Receives Committee Assignments for the 2019-2020 Legislative Term

ATLANTA – State Representative Matthew Wilson (D-Brookhaven) was sworn into office as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives on Monday, January 14, 2019, marking his first day of the 2019-2020 legislative term. Monday was the first day of the first term of the 155th legislative session of the Georgia General Assembly.

In addition to being officially sworn in, the Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named Rep. Wilson to the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Education and Judiciary committees.

“I’m grateful to the Speaker and the House Committee on Assignments for putting me in a position to use my experience as a lawyer, former teacher and consumer rights advocate in evaluating legislation at the committee level,” said Rep. Wilson. “These committees will hear bills of crucial importance to Georgians across north Atlanta and our entire state, and I’m ready to get to work.”

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

 Representative Matthew Wilson represents the citizens of District 80, which includes portions of DeKalb and Fulton counties. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2018 and currently serves on the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Education and Judiciary committees.
