ATLANTA – State Representative Mickey Stephens (D-Savannah) will attend the National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania this month. The semi-annual conference offers state legislators the opportunity to discuss and debate current insurance issues with other state legislators, insurance regulators, federal officials, consumer advocates, and industry representatives.
“As a member of the House Insurance Committee, I am honored and excited to be representing Georgia constituents and the Georgia House of Representatives at the NCOIL meeting,” said Rep. Stephens. “I look forward to discussing current insurance issues with many of the nation’s leading insurance experts.”
According to the non-profit organization, NCOIL strives to help legislators make informed decisions on insurance issues and guards against federal encroachment of states’ authority on insurance issues. NCOIL also works to educate lawmakers on new and recurring insurance challenges. In addition, NCOIL communicates states’ insurance needs with Congress and other leaders regarding the opinions of state legislators on critical insurance issues.
