ATLANTA – State Representative Mike Cameron (R-Rossville) touts Governor Brian Kemp’s recent announcement that the State Board of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) approved a grant totaling more than $3 million to establish a new College and Career Academy in Walker County. Known as Walker Launch, this project is the result of a partnership between Walker County Schools and Georgia Northwestern Technical College, and it will serve Walker and Dade County Students.
“As a longtime advocate of more resources for vocational training in House District 1, I want to thank Governor Kemp and TCSG for giving students in Walker and Dade counties the opportunity to learn the necessary skills that will prepare them for a prosperous future in Georgia’s thriving workforce,” said Rep. Cameron. “I look forward to this new development that will give Georgia’s students increased accessibility to exceptional learning experiences.”
The new College and Career Academy is being made possible through a grant comprised of $3 million in bonds and an additional cash amount of $100,000. The funding will allow for the necessary resources to construct and uphold a state-of-the-art learning facility with the ability to equip students with the proper skills to enter Georgia’s modern workforce.
Georgia’s College and Career Academies collaborate with more than 3,000 business partners across the state to ensure curriculum and training opportunities for Georgia students are closely aligned with industry needs in Georgia.
