Rep. Mike Glanton Appointed to House Study Committee on Base Realignment and Closure

ATLANTA – House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) recently appointed State Representative Mike Glanton (D-Jonesboro) to the House Study Committee on Base Realignment and Closure.

“I would like to thank Speaker Ralston for allowing me the opportunity to serve on this crucial study committee,” said Rep. Glanton. “Georgia’s military provides invaluable resources and benefits to citizens across our state, and as legislators, we must prepare ourselves and our military bases for any future BRAC commission meetings. In doing so, we can ensure the livelihood of Georgia’s military and the continued economic success for our communities and our state.”

This fifteen member study committee, Chaired by State Representative Dave Belton (R-Buckhead), is established by House Resolution 1135 and will examine how to protect Georgia’s military installations from a future federal base realignment and closure action.
