Rep. Mike Glanton Appointed to MARTOC by Gov. Kemp

ATLANTA – State Representative Mike Glanton (D-Jonesboro) was appointed by Governor Brian Kemp to serve on the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Overview Committee (MARTOC).

“I am humbled that Governor Kemp appointed me to MARTOC. This Joint House and Senate Committee is an extremely important and relative committee, especially during the next few years of transportation and transit priority projects,” said Rep. Glanton. “As MARTA seeks to expand into Gwinnett County and move forward with a commuter rail system in Clayton County, the committee will play an instrumental role through partnerships with MARTA, the MARTA Board of Directors and the newly assembled Atlanta Transit Link Authority Board of Directors. I look forward to serving Georgians by improving transportation and transit infrastructure.”

Rep. Glanton was previously appointed to MARTOC by Gov. Nathan Deal during the 2017-2018 legislative term. He also served as chairman of the MARTOC Subcommittee on Innovation & Technology.

MARTOC is a statutory committee that is responsible for providing oversight of MARTA and its annual budget. As a joint committee with the House and Senate, MARTOC does not handle legislation, nor do the members have a vote on the MARTA Board of Directors.
