ATLANTA – State Representative Patty Bentley (D-Reynolds) today announced that the city of Butler was recently awarded a $2,010,000 Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) loan by the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) board of directors.
“We are so grateful to GEFA for this loan to facilitate improvement in our community,” said Rep. Bentley. “In rural areas like Taylor County, water conservation is critical to the sustainment of our local economies, and without investing in our water supply and the essential technology now, we risk squandering it for future generations.”
The loan will finance rehabilitating the city’s wastewater treatment facility (WWTF) and pumping stations by replacing components of the city’s WWTF and pump stations that have either failed or are at risk of failing. The project will include replacing existing screens and grit removal systems, installing new trickling filter mechanisms, and replacing influent and transfer pump stations, in addition to installing a new submersible pump station to replace the city’s Oak Street pump station.
Representative Patty Bentley represents the citizens of District 139, which includes portions of Dooly, Macon, Peach, and Taylor counties. She was elected into the House of Representatives in 2012, and currently serves on the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Higher Education, Intragovernmental Coordination, and Retirement committees.
