ATLANTA – State Representative Patty Stinson (D-Butler) was recently selected by Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve on the House Study Committee on the Exchange, Storage and Coverage of Agricultural Products, Grain and Livestock.
“As agriculture remains Georgia’s top industry, we often see fraudulent and economic threats to its livelihood and equally harmful threats to its farmers and producers,” said Rep. Stinson. “I am grateful to Speaker Burns for selecting me to help conduct a robust investigation into these threats and recommend updates to the protections in place for those working in agriculture. I look forward to hearing from constituents and agricultural professionals to determine best practices in keeping Georgia’s farmers and agricultural industry unscathed.”
Created by House Resolution 1166, the House Study Committee on the Exchange, Storage and Bond Coverage of Agricultural Products, Grain and Livestock will examine warehouse and bonding policies associated with Georgia’s agriculture industry.
Speaker Burns also appointed the following study committee members: State Representatives Steven Meeks (R-Screven), Robert Dickey (R-Musella), Chas Cannon (R-Moultrie), Rob Leverett (R-Elberton), Joe Campbell (R-Camilla) and Beth Camp (R-Concord).
Representative Patty Stinson represents the citizens of District 150, which includes Dooly, Macon and Taylor counties, as well as portions of Peach and Sumter counties. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2012 and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the State Planning & Community Affairs Committee. She also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Higher Education and the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Health, Higher Education, Intragovernmental Coordination, Retirement and Ways & Means committees.
