ATLANTA – State Representative Jimmy Pruett (R- Eastman) attended the Rhine Community “Summer Slam Giveaway” on Saturday, August 29, 2009. The event allowed struggling families to receive donated school supplies, clothing, shoes, and household items for free.
“The current economic recession has severely hurt many of the rural areas in Georgia, including the Rhine Community,” said Rep. Pruett. “The Summer Slam Giveaway was an opportunity to help our neighbors in Rhine receive the basic items needed to maintain a home and secure an education. I was proud to do my part.”
There will be another event on Saturday, November 28, 2009. The event will be open to Dodge, Wilcox, Pulaski, Bleckley, Ben Hill, Telfair, Wheeler, and Laurens Counties. Donations for the upcoming event can be sent to Rhine City Hall, Rhine Drugs, or the CB&T Bank in Rhine. For more information please call (229) 385-5101 or (229) 365-3890.
