ATLANTA – The House Democratic Caucus elected State Representative Saira Draper (D-Atlanta) to serve as the House Minority Caucus Chief Deputy Whip during caucus elections on Thursday, November 14, 2024.
“My thanks to our caucus for their support of me in assuming this role as Minority Chief Deputy Whip,” said Rep. Draper. “Our country’s recent events have been disappointing, but it has reminded our caucus of why we go to battle for our constituents. We will continue this battle for our districts, in the state legislature and ultimately, for our country. It is no small feat, but I have no doubt that our caucus is up for the task. Our unity and diversity as a party is our strength, and I am hopeful for this upcoming legislative session.”
Minority Chief Deputy Whip Saira Draper (D-Atlanta) will work alongside the Minority Whip and will be responsible for monitoring legislation as it moves through both chambers of the General Assembly and helping the members of the Minority Caucus to better understand the details of bills and resolutions.
This will be Rep. Draper’s second term in the Georgia House of Representatives and her firstterm as Minority Caucus Chief Deputy Whip.
Representative Saira Draper currently represents the citizens of District 90, which includes portions of DeKalb County. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves on the Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight, Code Revision and Juvenile Justice committees.
