ATLANTA – State Representative Sandra Scott (D-Rex) recently participated in the Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity’s shed building project in Clayton County on Saturday, May 14. Rep. Scott and other volunteers built a shed for a local family who will receive a Habitat for Humanity Home.
“Volunteering with Habitat for Humanity is something that I always wanted to do, and I want to thank Southern Crescent Women in Business and the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce for allowing me to participate in this project,” said Rep. Scott. “When women come together for a mission, there is no doubt that the job will be executed above board. These projects also equip women with skills they may not otherwise be exposed to, and I was able to walk away feeling like I can build my own shed from scratch.”
Rep. Scott was joined by 25 women volunteers with Southern Crescent Women in Business, Inc. and the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce. The project included gathering, preparing and assembling the building materials from start to finish. Rep. Scott was inspired to participate in this project by her mother, who has volunteered to build Habitat for Humanity homes in Florida.
Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit housing ministry dedicated to providing low income families with new homes. Individuals can learn more and apply for homeownership opportunities here.
Representative Sandra Scott represents the citizens of District 76, which includes portions of Clayton and Henry counties. She was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2010 and currently serves on the Defense & Veterans Affairs, Human Relations & Aging, Legislative & Congressional Reapportionment, Science and Technology and Special Rules committees.
