ATLANTA – State Representative Scot Turner (R-Holly Springs) today announced that the Georgia State Senate recently passed House Bill 1087 on Thursday, June 18, 2020. HB 1087 would provide the opportunity for citizens to vote on a homestead exemption for the City of Holly Springs.
“I am grateful for my colleagues in the General Assembly for recognizing the importance of House Bill 1087 for senior citizens in Holly Springs,” said Rep. Turner. “This homestead exemption was encouraged through a unanimous resolution by the Holly Springs City Council, and I am excited to announce that citizens can decide to enact this legislation on their local ballot in November.”
House Bill 1087 would provide a homestead exemption from the City of Holly Springs ad valorem taxes for up to $409,900 of the appraised value of the homestead for residents who are 62 and older. This homestead exemption would be placed on a local ballot as a referendum in November 2020.
