ATLANTA – State Representative Sandra Scott (D-Rex) recently celebrated Georgia Pre-K week by reading to Pre-K students at Kinder Care Learning Center. Rep. Scott also donated several books to the classroom as well as to local barber shops and salons within her district.
“Reading is one of the main building blocks upon which a solid education can be built, and it helps children overcome obstacles and can open more doors for students,” said Rep. Scott. “In district 76, I encourage reading in all places where a child comes in and sits for 10 minutes or more, which is why I recently delivered books to day care centers, barber shops and salons in district 76. I spoke with the different owners and patrons and they all agreed that we all must do our part and play a vital role in getting our children to understand and enjoy reading. I am asking parents to collect any old or unused books around their house and take them to their local barber shop or salon. Let’s all do what we can to encourage our children to read because reading is fundamental.”
