ATLANTA – State Representative Scott Hilton (R-Peachtree Corners) was sworn into office as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives on Monday, January 9, 2017, marking his first day of the 2017-2018 legislative term. Monday was the first day of the first term of the 154th Legislative Session of the Georgia General Assembly.
“One of the greatest gifts I could ever receive is the opportunity to be a voice for our community,” said Rep. Hilton. “It is truly humbling to be given such a responsibility, and I am thrilled to begin working hard on behalf of the citizens of this state.”
In addition to being officially sworn in, the Georgia House of Representatives’ Committee on Assignments named Rep. Hilton to the Education; Health & Human Services; and Intragovernmental Coordination committees.
“Education reform, including the state’s education funding formula, will be an important topic of discussion this legislative session, and as a member of the Education Committee I am dedicated to equipping teachers with the resources they need, increasing school choice, and empowering parents in the education of their children,” added Rep. Hilton. “And as the parent of a child with special needs, I am particularly excited to serve as a strong voice and advocate for the entire disability community through my membership on the Health and Human Services Committee. With the expected upcoming changes to healthcare at the federal level, our committee will certainly be busy over the next several years.”
The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Representative Scott Hilton represents the citizens of District 95, which includes portions of Fulton and Gwinnett counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2016, and currently serves on the Education, Health & Human Services, and Intragovernmental Coordination committees.
