ATLANTA – State Representative Segun Adeyina (D-Grayson) today issued the following statement on the recent incidents at T.W. Briscoe Park in Snellville, Georgia:
“I am deeply concerned about the recent incidents that occurred at T.W. Briscoe Park in Snellville over the past weekend. Our parks should be safe havens for families, children and all members of our community to gather, play and enjoy the outdoors without fear.
I commend the swift response of the Snellville Police Department and other first responders who acted promptly to ensure the safety of our residents. I also support the city’s decision to temporarily close the pool and review safety protocols to prevent such incidents in the future.
As your state representative, I am committed to working with local officials, law enforcement and community leaders to address the underlying issues that contribute to such violence. This includes investing in youth programs, enhancing community policing efforts and ensuring that our public spaces are equipped with the necessary resources to promote safety and prevent gun violence.
I urge anyone with information about these incidents to come forward and assist law enforcement in their investigations. Together, we can foster a community where everyone feels safe and valued. My thoughts are with all those affected by these events, and I remain dedicated to serving and protecting the interests of our community.”
Representative Segun Adeyina represents the citizens of District 110, which includes a portion of Gwinnett County. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves on the Creative Arts & Entertainment, Education and Technology & Infrastructure Innovation committees.
