ATLANTA – State Representative Sheila Jones (D-Atlanta) recently honored Ola Reynolds at the State Capitol with the Georgia Legislative Women’s Caucus Servant Leadership Award on March 5, 2014 as a part of Women’s History Month. Reynolds was also recognized with House Resolution 1630, which was read before the Georgia House of Representatives.
“Ola Reynolds is a valuable member of our community and very deserving of this award,” said Rep. Jones. “I was happy to honor her and all of the recipients of the Servant Leadership Award at the Capitol as we celebrated Women’s History Month together.”
Ola W. Reynolds has been active in the Atlanta community for more than 40 years. She is a resident of the Monroe Heights Community and an advocate for community development, education attainment, and sustainability of affordable housing for all. Reynolds has been directly involved in the Neighborhood Planning Unit-G, serving as Secretary from 1995-2003, Vice-Chair from 2003-2005, and currently as Chair. She has also worked as a focus group leader for the Donald Lee Hollowell Northwest Framework project, served as a PTA president, and was Secretary of John Carey Elementary. Additionally, she is a member of True Light Baptist Church where she has worked as a youth minister, Sunday school teacher, choir member, and deaconess ministry chairperson.
The Georgia Legislative Women’s Caucus celebrated March as Women’s History Month by recognizing the First Lady of Georgia, Sandra Deal, and presenting her with House Resolution 1647. The caucus also presented First Lady Deal with the Georgia Legislative Women’s Caucus Servant Leadership Award.
The Georgia Legislative Women’s Caucus Servant Leadership Award is given to women who have shown invaluable service to their communities and to the State of Georgia. Award recipients also attended a reception at the Capitol, where First Lady Deal spoke to the group of honorees.

Representative Sheila Jones represents the citizens of District 53, which includes portions of Cobb and Fulton counties. She was elected into the House of Representatives in 2004, and currently serves on the Appropriations, Health & Human Services, Juvenile Justice, and Transportation committees.
