ATLANTA – State Representative Sheila Jones (D-Atlanta) recently sponsored House Resolution 1632, legislation recognizing Miriam Arlala Johnson James-Miller in honor of Women’s History Month.
“It is an honor to recognize Miriam in light of Women’s History Month,” said Rep. Jones. “Miriam is a woman of deep faith, who is dedicated to the betterment of her community. She is a fine example of the great women living in the state of Georgia.”
Miriam Arlala Johnson James-Miller was also recently honored at the 7th Annual Salute to Phenomenal Trailblazers Awards Luncheon, hosted by the National Organization of Black Elected Legislative Women. James-Miller currently serves as the president of the Woodlawn Heights Neighborhood Club and is the secretary of Historical Collier Heights. She is a past board member of the Joseph B. Whitehead Butler Street YMCA. A summa cum laude graduate from Spelman College, she is a 40-year educator, currently employed by the Atlanta Public School System.

Representative Sheila Jones represents the citizens of District 53, which includes portions of Cobb and Fulton counties. She was elected into the House of Representatives in 2004, and currently serves on the Appropriations, Health & Human Services, Juvenile Justice, and Transportation committees.
