Rep. Sheila Jones’ Resolution Recognizes May as Osteoporosis Awareness and Prevention Month in Georgia

ATLANTA – State Representative Sheila Jones (D-Atlanta) introduced a resolution that recognizes May as Osteoporosis Awareness and Prevention Month in Georgia. Sponsored by Rep. Jones, House Resolution 333, recognizing May 2025 as Osteoporosis Awareness and Prevention Month, was adopted during the 2025 legislative session.

“I am grateful to the Georgia House for adopting HR 333 during the 2025 legislative session,” said Rep. Jones. “It is critical that we recognize and advocate for those suffering from osteoporosis and ensure that we empower people with the proper tools and knowledge to prevent the onset of this pervasive disease. An estimated 54 million Americans have osteoporosis or low bone mass, with older women at the highest risk. Osteoporosis can often go unnoticed during the early stages of bone loss, and through this resolution, I hope to shed light on the importance of early detection and encourage individuals to take proactive steps toward maintaining their bone health.”
