Rep. Davis will serve a two year term running through 2012.
“It is a great honor to be appointed to a national committee that focuses on such a wide variety of immerging issues,” said Rep. Davis. “As a member of the committee, I will work with the legislators from other states to ensure that we protect our rights and privileges guaranteed under the Constitution.”
The Communications, Financial Services and Interstate Commerce Committee is one of NCSL’s 12 standing committees. These standing committees serve an important role in representing state interests in Washington, D.C. and the facilitation of policy innovation among the state and territorial legislatures. The committee is currently working on programs to help educate state leaders about immerging issues in these areas, some of which include Tax Fairness in the Digital Age, Emergency Communications Support for State and Federal Disasters, and Utilizing Health Care Technology.
The committee’s next meeting will be held at NCSL’s Legislative Summit in San Antonio, Texas, from August 8-11. During this meeting, the committee will discuss and takes action on several policies, including 21st Century Communications, Banking Regulation and the Dodd-Frank Act, and Insurance Regulatory Modernization.
