ATLANTA – State Representative Teddy Reese (D-Columbus) recently was named the 2025 Legislator of the Year by the State of Georgia chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) Sorority, Inc.
“I am truly surprised and deeply honored to be named the 2025 Georgia Legislator of the Year by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.,” said Rep. Reese. “God is maneuvering in incredible ways, and I am moved beyond words. This recognition serves as a reminder that even when we think no one is watching, our work is being carefully observed. I am grateful to AKA for this recognition and for their continued support and commitment to our communities.”
AKA, an international service organization, was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. in 1908. It is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American college-educated women.
Representative Tremaine Teddy Reese represents the citizens of District 140, which includes a portion of Muscogee County. He first was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves on the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Economic Development & Tourism and Public and Community Health committees. He also serves on the Special Committee on Resource Management.
