Rep. Trey Kelley Applauds Governor’s GEORGIA MATCH Direct College Admissions Initiative

ATLANTA – State Representative Trey Kelley (R-Cedartown) applauds Governor Brian Kemp’s recent announcement to launch GEORGIA MATCH, a college admissions initiative aimed at giving graduating high school seniors an opportunity to be directly connected with higher education opportunities.

“I congratulate Governor Kemp on his recent announcement to roll out GEORGIA MATCH,” said Rep. Kelley. “This initiative will give thousands of Georgia’s high school seniors the chance to explore the possibility of postsecondary higher education, something many may not have thought possible until now. With this initiative, young Georgians across the state will be given the chance to further their education and equip themselves with the necessary skills and knowledge to enter Georgia’s thriving workforce. I encourage all high school seniors, especially those in House District 16, to take advantage of this one of a kind opportunity, and I applaud Governor Kemp for his steadfast efforts to strengthen Georgia’s education sector.”

GEORGIA MATCH is an education and workforce initiative developed by the Governor’s Office, Governor’s Office of Planning & Budget, Georgia Student Finance Commission, Technical College System of Georgia, Governor’s Office of Student Achievement, Georgia Department of Education and the University System of Georgia with the mission to give all Georgia students the opportunity to learn and succeed through postsecondary education.

Starting next week, more than 120,000 high school seniors across the state will receive a letter from Governor Kemp listing the technical institutions, colleges and universities that will be holding a spot for them in the fall 2024 semester. The number of schools listed will be based on the student’s academic standing, 11th grade HOPE GPA and freshman index score. The letters will also include information on how to claim a spot at a college or university on that student’s individualized list. All GEORGIA MATCH participating institutions will waive application fees for students during November 2023 for students who apply through GEORGIA MATCH.

Beginning next week, students may visit gafutures.org/GEORGIAMATCH to view their personalized MATCH list and request additional information if needed.
