ATLANTA – The House Republican Caucus unanimously re-elected State Representative Trey Kelley (R-Cedartown) to continue serving as the House Majority Whip for the 2021-2022 legislative term during caucus elections on Monday, November 9, 2020.
“It has been an honor to serve as the House Majority Whip over the last two years, and I am humbled that the House Republican Caucus has chosen me again to serve in this role,” said Majority Whip Kelley. “Georgians have placed their faith in this caucus to lead Georgia with sound, conservative policies, especially during this tumultuous time as a state and nation. It is not just an honor to serve the Republican caucus, but an even greater privilege to call these public servants my dear friends. I will always listen first and sincerely care about the opinions, perspectives and wisdom of these faithful Republican members, each of whom are ready to represent their constituents unwaveringly during this next legislative term.”
Majority Whip Kelley is responsible for monitoring legislation as it moves through both chambers of the General Assembly and helping the members of the Majority Caucus to better understand the details of bills and resolutions.
This will be Majority Whip Kelley’s fifth term in the Georgia House of Representatives and his secondterm as Majority Whip.
Representative Trey Kelley represents the citizens of District 16, which includes Polk County and portions of Bartow and Haralson counties. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2012 and currently serves as House Majority Whip. He also serves as Secretary of the Judiciary and Higher Education committees and as a member on the Code Revision, Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications, Ethics, Health & Human Services and Way & Means committees. He also serves as an Ex-Officio member of the House Rules Committee.
