ATLANTA – State Representative Trey Kelley (R-Cedartown) today welcomed the 8th grade class of Rockmart Middle School, a group of 230 students, to the State Capitol on Friday, February 28, 2014.
“It was very exciting to have this group of bright young students here to visit our State Capitol,” said Rep. Kelley. “It was a privilege for me to be able to show them Georgia’s legislative process in action. I look forward to watching these students grow.”
The group from Rockmart Middle School visited with Rep. Kelley and had the opportunity to ask him questions about state government and his role as an elected official. The students were also led on a guided tour through the State Capitol where they were able to learn history about the Capitol building, the state, and the legislative process.
Representative Trey Kelley represents the citizens of District 16, which includes portions of Bartow, Haralson, and Polk counties. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2012, and currently serves as the Secretary on the Higher Education Committee. He also serves on the Banks & Banking, Code Revision, and Judiciary committees.
