Rep. Valencia Stovall Selected by Council of State Governments as Henry Toll Fellow

ATLANTA – State Representative Valencia Stovall (D-Lake City) has been selected by the Council of State Governments (CSG) as one of 48 members of the 2015 class of Henry Toll Fellows.

The Toll Fellowship Program is a national leadership development program for state government officials.

“It’s indeed a distinguished honor to be selected as a member of the Henry Toll Fellow class of 2015,” said Rep. Stovall.  “I believe that being one of only two elected officials from Georgia who were selected for this program speaks volumes to my continued commitment towards excellence in public service and leadership.”

Each year, Toll Fellows brings 48 of the nation’s top officials from all three branches of state government to Lexington, Kentucky for an intensive six-day, five-night “intellectual boot camp.” Rep. Stovall and Rep. Amy Carter (R-Valdosta) are the only two Georgia members of this year’s class, which will meet Aug. 28 through Sept. 2.  The first Georgian was selected to the program in 1988 with only 16 Georgians being selected through 2014.

The program’s agenda includes a lineup of speakers and sessions designed to stimulate personal assessment and growth, while providing networking and relationship-building opportunities. While each year’s program is unique, previous programs have included sessions on leadership personality assessment, media training, crisis management, appreciative inquiry, adaptive leadership and much more.
