Rep. Victor Anderson Named Chair of House Study Committee on Safety & Consumer Protection in the Tree Care Industry

ATLANTA – State Representative Victor Anderson (R-Cornelia) was named by Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve as the chairman of the House Study Committee on Safety and Consumer Protection in the Tree Care Industry.

“I am grateful to Speaker Burns for selecting me to lead the House Study Committee on Safety and Consumer Protection in the Tree Care Industry,” said Rep. Anderson. “Currently, Georgia lacks licensing and registration requirements for tree care providers. The absence of standards for training, equipment use and insurance poses significant risks. With a fatality rate nearly 30 times higher than the national average for tree trimmers, this study is urgently needed. I look forward to working with my legislative colleagues to develop legislation to provide enhanced safety in this industry.”

Established by House Resolution 473, the House Study Committee the Safety and Consumer Protection in the Tree Care Industry will study and develop potential solutions to prevent any further injury or fatality in the tree care industry.

Speaker Burns also appointed the following study committee members: State Representatives Marvin Lim (D-Norcross), David Huddleston (R-Roopville), Jordan Ridley (R-Woodstock) and Bill Yearta (R-Sylvester).

Representative Victor Anderson represents the citizens of District 10, which includes Rabun County and portions of Habersham County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2020 and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Governmental Affairs and Intragovernmental Coordination committees. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Human Resources and the Appropriations, Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications, Industry and Labor and State Planning & Community Affairs committees.
