Rep. Welch Appointed Chairman of House Study Commission on Reforming Real Property Taxation

ATLANTA – State Representative Andy Welch (R-Locust Grove) was recently appointed by Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) to serve as the chairman of the House Study Committee on Reforming Real Property Taxation.

“I am honored to be appointed by Speaker Ralston as the chairman of this very important study committee to look at reforming state property taxation,” said Rep. Welch. “We have a constitutional obligation to appraise and evaluate the fair market value of real property taxation in Georgia, and our citizens deserve an efficient appraisal process.  I hope that this committee can develop solutions to make this entire process more accurate and impartial for all Georgians.”

Established by House Resolution 1317, the House Study Commission on Reforming Real Property Taxation will examine a holistic revision to state property taxation in Georgia.
