ATLANTA – The March/April 2010 edition of James Magazine named State Representative Doug Collins (R-Gainesville) as one of the Most Influential Georgians of 2010.
“I am humbled and surprised to be recognized by James Magazine as one of the most influential Georgians in the House of Representatives,” said Rep. Doug Collins. “I am thankful to the people of the 27th District for allowing me to serve them in the General Assembly.”
James Magazine is Georgia’s only monthly news magazine and is widely considered one of the state’s top resources for Georgia political news and issues. In a list that has become an annual tradition, naming the “who’s who” of Georgia politics, the “2010 Most Influential Georgians” also includes House Speaker David Ralston (R- Blue Ridge), U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, Department of Transportation Commissioner Vance Smith and Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Ken Stewart.
“Rep. Collins is an honest, caring, hardworking member of the Georgia House of Representatives and his dedication should indeed be recognized,” said House Speaker David Ralston. “Rep. Collins works tirelessly for the constituents of House District 27 and for this state, and I applaud him on this distinction.”
Rep. Collins was born and raised in Hall County. In addition to being a successful attorney in Gainesville, he also serves as a chaplain for the U.S Air Force Reserves at Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta, Georgia. In his role as a state legislator, Collins serves as the secretary of the powerful House Appropriations Committee. He also serves as a member of a number of other important committees, including Defense and Veteran’s Affairs, Health and Human Services, Judiciary Non-Civil, and Public Safety and Homeland Security.
