Representative Mark Hamilton Receives Distinguished Alumni Honor

ATLANTA –State Representative Mark Hamilton (R-Cumming) was recently honored as one of four Texas A&M University-Kingsville distinguished alumni that were recognized at the school’s 2013 homecoming ceremony.

“I am truly honored that I was recognized as a distinguished alumni by my alma mater,” said Rep. Hamilton. “It was very special and meaningful to me to receive this distinction along with so many other outstanding former classmates.”

Each year, a number of alumni are chosen for special recognition. In addition to their professional achievements, these alumni are also recognized for their service to both their alma mater and their communities. This year, four alumni received the Distinguished Alumni Award. Other alumni that were recognized along with Rep. Hamilton include, Abel Lopez of Washington D.C., Gloria Hicks of Corpus Christi, and Balous Miller of San Antonio.

“We are so proud to honor Mark Hamilton as a distinguished Javelina alumnus,” said Dr. Steven Tallant, president of Texas A&M-Kingsville. “Mark’s career in business and years of public service are wonderful examples of the great impact our alumni are making across the country.”

Representative Mark Hamilton represents the citizens of District 24, which includes portions of Forsyth County. He was elected into the House of Representatives in 2006 and currently serves as Chairman of the Industry and Labor Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations; Energy, Utilities, & Telecommunications; Governmental Affairs; Rules; and Transportation committees.
