ATLANTA- This week the House Transportation Committee reviewed HB 277, the Georgia 20/20 Statewide Transportation Act. This bill offers a statewide plan to improve Georgia’s transportation needs.
Representative Mike Glanton (D- Ellenwood) successfully introduced two amendments that were added to HB 277. These amendments affected funding for commuter rail lines from Atlanta to Lovejoy and Lovejoy to Griffin. HB 277 passed the Transportation Committee and is scheduled for House floor debate on Tuesday, March 3.
“I remain committed to bringing commuter rail to Clayton County and the Southern Crescent. Through the combined efforts of all involved, I am hopeful we will be able to bring this extremely important project to our community. These rail lines will ensure Clayton County’s long-term economic prosperity,” said Rep. Glanton. “If successful, the operating and maintenance funding included in HB 277 will be a long awaited win not only for our local community but for this great State.”
